Song 365: "Leave Her, Johnny"

Leave her, Johnny, leave her
Oh leave her, Johnny, leave her
For the voyage is done and the winds don’t blow
And it’s time for us to leave her

Oh the times was hard and the wages low
Leave her, Johnny, leave her
But now once more on shore we’ll go
And it’s time for us to leave her

There’s Liverpool Pat with his tarpaulin hat
And Yankee John, the pocket rat

I thought I heard the old man say
Tomorrow you will get your pay

Oh, the work was hard and the voyage long
Oh, the sea was high and the gales was strong

Oh, sing that we boys will never be
In a hungry bitch, the likes of she

Its rotten beef and waverly bread
It was pump or drown, the old man said

The sails all furled, our work is done
And now ashore we’ll take our run

Oh, what will us poor shellbacks do?
Our money’s gone, more work to do.

Well the rats have left, and we the crew
Oh, it’s time by damn’ that we went to

Song 364: "Runaljod" - Wardruna

Fé vældr fræ'nda rógi;
fóðesk ulfr í skógi

Rúnar munt þú finna
ok ráðna stafi,
mjök stóra stafi,
mjök stinna stafi,
er fáði fimbulþulr
ok gerðu ginnregin
ok reist hroftr rögna.
[Hávamál 142]

Úr er af illu jarni;
oft leypr ræinn á hjarni

Þurs vældr kvenna kvillu;
kátr værðr fár af illu

Óss er flestra færða;
för, en skalpr er sværða

Nam ek upp rúnar, æpandi nam...
[Hávamál 139]

Ræið kvæða rossom væsta;
Reginn sló sværðet bæzta

Kaun er barna bolvan;
bol gorver mann folvan

Hagal er kaldastr korna;
Herjan skóp hæimin forna

Nauð gerer nappa kosti;
naktan kælr í frosti

Is köllum brú bræiða;
blindan þarf at læiða

Ár er gumna góði;
get ek at örr var Fróði

Sól er landa ljómi;
lúti ek að helgum dómi

Týr er einhendr ása;
oft værðr smiðr at blása

Bjarkan er laufgrænstr líma;
Loki bar flæ'rðar tima

Maðr er moldur auki;
mikill er græip á hauki
Mikill er græip á hauki...

Nam ek upp rúnar, æpandi nam...

Laukr er, er fællr ór fjalle;
foss en gull ero nosser

Ýr er vetrgrænstr víða;
vant er, er brennr, at svíða

Wealth cause dispute among friends;
the wolf lives in the forest

Runes will you discover
And meaningful staves,
Very powerful staves,
Very strong staves,
That the wise high-storyteller gained
That the higher creative-powers crafted
That the Hroptr of Gods carved.
[Hávamál 142]

Slag comes from bad iron;
the reindeer often races over the frozen snow.

Giant causes women's sorrow;
few are cheerful from misfortune

River mouth is way of most journeys;
but the sheath is the one of swords

I took up the runes, crying aloud I took them...
[Hávamál 139]

Riding, one says, is for horses the worst;
Regin forged the best sword

Ulcer is fatal for children;
death makes man pale

Hail is the coldest of grain;
Herjan shaped the world in olden times

Need leaves you little choice;
the naked freeze in the frost

Ice we call the broad bridge;
the blind man must be led

Good year is a blessing for men;
I say that Frodi was generous

Sun is light of the land
I bow before the holy

Tyr is one-handed among the Æsir;
often the smith must blow

Birch is the limb greenest with leaves;
Loki brought success of deceit

Man is increase of soil;
mighty is the hawk's claw
Mighty is the hawk's claw...

I took up the runes, crying aloud I took them...

Water is what falls from the mountain;
but of gold are the jewels

Yew is the greenest tree in winter;
it often singes when it burns

Song 363: "El alazán" - Atahualpa Yupanqui

Dicen que un hombre de a pie
Solo es la mitad de un gaucho
Eso solo seré
Porque perdí mi caballo

No me gustan las nostalgias
Porque me achican la vida
Y el corazón se desangra de penas
Mientras camina

A veces a rienda corta
Con las coscojas sonando
Parecía preguntarme
¿Que anda pasando, paisano?

Y así voy
Y así voy yendo
Cuesta arriba
Y cuesta abajo
Solitario y nostalgioso
Porque perdí mi caballo

Era una cinta de fuego,
galopando, galopando.
Crin revuelta en llamaradas,
mi alazán te estoy nombrando.

Trepo las sierras con luna,
cruzó los valles nevando.
Cien caminos anduvimos,
mi alazán te estoy nombrando.

¿Qué oscuro lazo de nieve
te pialó junto al barranco?
¿Cómo fue que no lo viste?
¿Qué estrella andabas buscando?

En el fondo del abismo,
ni una voz para nombrarlo.
Solito se fue muriendo,
mi caballo, mi caballo.

En una horqueta de un tala
hay un morral solitario,
y hay un corral sin relinchos,
mi alazán te estoy nombrando.

Si es como dicen algunos,
que hay cielos pal' buen caballo,
por ahí andará mi flete,
galopando, galopando.

Oscuro lazo de nieve
te pialó junto al barranco.
¿Cómo fue que no lo viste?
¿Qué estrella andabas mirando?

En el fondo del abismo,
ni una voz para nombrarlo.
Solito se fue muriendo,
mi caballo, mi caballo.

Song 362: "Stormalong"

Oh Stormy's gone, that good old man
Way hay, Stormalong!
Oh, poor old Stormy's dead and gone
Aye, aye, Mister Stormalong!

We dug his grave with a silver spade
His shroud of finest silk was made

We lowered him with a silver chain
Our eyes all dim with more than rain

An able sailor, bold and true,
A good old bosun to his crew

He's moored at last, and furled his sail
No danger now from wreck or gale

I wish I was old Stormy's son
I'd build me a ship of a thousand ton

I'd fill her up with New England rum
And all my shellbacks they would have some

I'd sail this wide world 'round and 'round
With plenty of money I would be found

Old Stormy's dead and gone to rest
Of all the sailors he was the best!

Song 361: "Grace O'Malley" - The Dreadnoughts

Boys, I remember one September
Taking arms up to the crown
Beaten up and broken down

And the maid that Connaught gave us
Who could save us from our shame
Grace O'Malley was her name

Granuaile the Pirate Queen
Flashing eyes so wild and green
I was only seventeen, boys
I'd no right to be
In Grace O'Malley's company

Her solution, retribution
Revolution in the air
Sailed we from the county Clare

Every galleon or battalion
Who bore the British crest
Sent them howling from the west

Granuaile the Pirate Queen
Flashing eyes so wild and green
I was only seventeen, boys
I'd no right to be
In Grace O'Malley's company

How we adored her even more sir
When the order came around
With an offer from the crown
Hike the stems boys, up the Thames boys
It's Gracie breath to breath
With the one Elizabeth

Granuaile the Pirate Queen
Flashing eyes so wild and green
I was only seventeen, boys
I'd no right to be
In Grace O'Malley's company

Just one thousand men
No one ever found again
She was offered and upset, boys
The pure light was she
Our Grace O'Malley's Company

Song 360: "The Valley Below" - The Family Crest

If I wasn't born
If I wasn't here
She'd move herself back down to the valley below
'Cause there the night is calm
And here the wind is cold
So move yourself back down to the valley below

This is not where I come from
This is not where I belong
Moving soft, so slowly she said
I'll move through the night, love, I'll sleep when I'm dead
I'll move through the night, love, I'll sleep when I'm dead
I'll move through the night, love, I'll sleep when I'm dead

As the wind it howls against the trees so slow
She moves herself back down to the valley below
'Cause there the night is calm, and here the wind is cold
So she moves herself back down to the valley below

And this is not where I come from
No, this is not where I belong
And speaking soft, so slowly she says
I'll move through the night love, I'll sleep when I'm dead
I'll move through the night love, I'll sleep when I'm dead
I'll move through the night love,
I'll sleep when I'm dead!

Now she's got me moving slow
I don't know where to go
I guess I'll go on my own way

If I wasn't born
If I wasn't here
She'd move herself back down to the valley below
'Cause there the night is calm, and here the wind is cold
So move yourself back down to the valley below

Song 359: "Los peces en el río"

La Virgen se está peinando
entre cortina y cortina
los cabellos son de oro
y el peine de plata fina.

Pero mira cómo beben los peces en el río
Pero mira cómo beben por ver al Dios nacido
Beben y beben y vuelven a beber

Song 358: "Home for Christmas" - The Family Crest

Oh, the stars in the sky
How they shine here tonight
Out to guide me home

Now the snow starts to fall
And the wind, oh it's howling out
To greet me

And I don't know how I'll get there
On this cold and windy night
But love, I'll be home for Christmas tonight

Oh, the lines on the road
How they blend with the homes
Reds and greens

Keep the fire up for me
Leave the lights out on the tree

And I don't know how I'll get there
On this dark and stormy night
And although my body's aching
Oh love, I'll still long to hold you tight
Because Christmas isn't Christmas without you

Without you my dear
Oh all of the songs have no meaning here
And, I want you beside me
Yes, I need you beside me

You're where I want to be this New Year

And I don't know how I'll get there
On this cold and windy night
But love I'll be home for Christmas tonight

Song 357: "Trabajo, quiero trabajo" - Atahualpa Yupanqui

Cruzando los salitrales,
uno se muere de sed
Aquello es puro desierto
Y allí no hay nada que hacer
(x2)

Trabajo, quiero trabajo
Porque esto no puede ser
Un día veré al desierto
Convertido en un vergel

El río es puro paisaje,
Lejos sus aguas se van,
Pero mis campos se queman
Sin acequias ni canal
(x2)

Las entrañas de la tierra
Va el minero á revolver
Saca tesoros ajenos
Y muere de hambre después
(x2)

(x2)

Despacito, paisanito,
Despacito y tenga fe,
Que en la noche del minero
Ya comienza a amanecer.
(x2)

Trabajo, quiero trabajo,
Trabajo, quiero trabajo,
Trabajo, quiero trabajo,
Porque esto no puede ser.

Song 356: "Donald McGillavry" - Empty Hats

Donald came into towne lean and wiry.
Music flew from his pipes wild and firey.
With pack on his back and eyes wide with ecstasy,
some called him the devil, that Donald McGillavry.
Play like the wild man, Donald McGillavry.
Are you the wild Pan, Donald McGillavry?
Innocence and wisdom do dance thru his melody;
the soul of the wild seed has Donald McGillavry.

Galway lay shrouded in mist and twisted trees.
Its people were strangled by their toils and drudgery.
Any passion was rare; the priest kept them on their knees,
but then came that stranger, that Donald McGillavry.
Laugh like a jackal, Donald McGillavry.
Fear be their shackle, Donald McGillavry.
Sing to them to wake them and rouse them to revelry.
You call down the thunder, you Donald McGillavry.

Their flesh was awakened to its ancient melody.
But they bound it with ropes of self-righteous civility.
They cursed him that day, "You’ve roused the beast, there’s blood to pay!"
The mob swelled with hatred for Donald McGillavry.
You’re black as the raven, Donald McGillavry.
Hell be your heaven, Donald McGillavry.
They tried him, and judged him; there came down a death decree.
"You’ll burn with the Devil, you Donald McGillavry!"

Sunrise brought amber skies; day was a certainty.
But Donald stood bound and gagged facing eternity.
The crowds fought for place. The torch smoked heavily.
"Why wait, do it now to this Donald McGillavry?"
"Pray for your soul now, Donald McGillavry.
Your life is over, Donald McGillavry."
They kicked him and poked him, they ridiculed his destiny,
’til fate pushed the children toward Donald McGillavry.

The children laid their bodies down, innocence at his feet.
Halos did crown their heads light for the blind to see.
From the mothers came cries, "Our children see with God’s own eyes,
this man is a messenger sent to undo our lies!"
They unbound the limbs of Donald McGillavry.
He took up his pipes again, that Donald McGillavry.
He played ’til the dawn; they danced ’til they fell to sleep.
Then off to the next towne went Donald McGillavry.

Song 355: Ragnarok (with songs by Amon Amarth)

The fair god Baldur was beloved by his mother, Frigg. So beloved, that she went around to every object in the world and had it swear to never harm Baldur. Since he was so fair and beloved by all, they swore to do so. The gods then entertained themselves by throwing weapons and heavy objects at Baldur only to have them bounce off. But Loki the Sly knew an evil secret.
Frigg had considered mistletoe too sweet and innocent to ask to not harm, and so Loki picked a small twig of it and went to the blind god, Hodr, and helped him aim it. When thrown, the mistletoe cut directly through Baldur and killed him on the spot.
On request from Frigg, Hermod, one of Odin's sons, took upon the task of trying to return Baldur to the land of the living.

[Hermod:]
Ride Sleipner,
Ride for all you're worth
Faster than lightning,
To the dark realms of the world

Through valleys of darkness,
On our way to Nifelheim,
To the halls of Hel
Where my brother waits

Wailing voices on the wind,
Urging me to turn
Distant, tortured screams
Cold, blue fires burn

I hear the sound of the river Gjoll,
Running cold and deep
A golden bridge shines in the dark,
The bridge that Modgud keeps

Over the bridge, on through the night,
Hel is getting near
There are the gates, towering high,
Afflicting me with fear

In her hall, at the honor seat
My brother sits in pain
Pale and tortured Balder greats
Bound by invisible frozen chains

I have come, to bring him back with me
The whole world mourns his death!
Please set Balder free
Give him back his breath!

[Hel:]
If it's true, what you say to me
That the whole world mourns his death.
If the whole world will weep
I will give him back his breath!

With this task, all the gods went throughout the world, asking everyone to cry for Baldur.

You come to me, eyes full of grief
You ask of me to shed all my tears
to let him return from kingdom of fears
Why should I weep, or lose any sleep?
He never brought me pleasure or glee,
so why would I help to set Balder free?

You come to me, eyes full of grief
All of your tears mean nothing to me,
so why will you not just leave me to be?
Am I to blame? Well, I'm not ashamed!
Oh, how I smiled when I heard the tale
of Loke the sly, so clever and brave

Höder the fool, Lopt's willing tool,
he held the twig that cut Balder's skin
Lopt aimed the shot that killed Höder's twin
Leave me alone, don't come here and moan
I've never wished to see Balder's well,
so let his soul remain down in Hel

My name is Töck and I won't cry,
I won't let Balder return!
Let Hel keep her treasured prize,
let his soul forever burn!

You come to me and cannot believe
that this old crow now talking to you
is Loke not Töck you bloody damn fools!
You come to me and you do not see:
all of your tears mean nothing to me,
why will you not just leave me to be?

My name is Töck and I won't cry,
I won't let Balder return!
Let Hel keep her treasured prize,
let his soul forever burn!

With Baldur condemned to Hel, the gods turned upon Loki. They bound him in a cave and killed his sons. But the Aesir knew that he would only be held so long. Baldur's death meant the end of the world. When the Norns decree it so, there will come a three-year-long winter, the Fimbullwinter. This will be the beginning of the end, and the chains that hold evil will break.

There comes Lopt, the treacherous
Lusting for revenge
He leads the legions of the dead
Towards the Aesir's realm

They march in full battle dress
With faces grim and pale
Tattered banners and bloody flags
Rusty spears and blades

Cries ring out, loud and harsh
From cracked and broken horns
Long forgotten battle cries
In strange and foreign tongues

Spear and sword clash rhythmically
Against the broken shields they beat
They bring their hate and anarchy
Onto Vigrid's battlefield

There comes Lopt, the treacherous
He stands against the gods
His army grim and ravenous
Lusting for their blood

Nowhere is longer safe
The earth moves under our feet
The great world tree Yggdrasil
Trembles to its roots

Sons of Muspel gird the field
Behind them Midgaard burns
Hrym's horde march from Nifelheim
And the Fenris wolf returns

Heimdal grips the Giallarhorn
He sounds that dreaded note
Oden rides to quest the Norns
But their web is torn

The Aesir rides out to war
With armor shining bright
Followed by the Einherjer
See Valkyries ride

Nowhere is longer safe
The earth moves under our feet
The great world tree Yggdrasil
Trembles to its roots

Sons of Muspel gird the field
Behind them Midgaard burns
Hrym's horde march from Nifelheim
And the Fenris wolf returns

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heimdall gazes east
A sail has caught his eye
He lifts his hand and sounds the horn
The undead army has arrived
Here comes Nagelfar
With Laufey's son on board
He brings chaos, hate and wrath
He brings the war to end all wars
Heimdall knows his fate
The end of all nine worlds
It's what the Valar has foreseen
He knows that everything shall burn
Facing Lopt's deceit
Now they finally meet
The champion and his enemy
On Vigrid's plains they'll find defeat
Their swords meet in a mighty clash
War cries sound, horns they blast
Their eager weapons whip and thrash
This day when all shall end
The lords of war are equal strong
This battle frantic and forlorn
The blades sing a macabre song
This day when all shall end
Heimdall's blade bites burning sharp
As it cuts through flesh and bone
Blood comes gushing from the wound
As Loke's head falls tumbling
Rolling to the burning ground
Loke lies dead, but the enemies of the Aesir still outnumber the gods.
See him rise, from land of flames
our destruction is at hand
It is time to make stand
Now I face, and awesome foe
I will always stand my ground
To this end my fate is bound!
This fight is mine, and mine alone,
and there's no help from anyone!
His wrath burns!
With insane heat all his fury is unleashed
There is no way to defeat
The forces and the power that he wields
My hand holds the horn so firm
I am calm and ready to die
Everything around me burns
And I know that I will not survive
See him rise, from land of flames
In this wild and barren land
I will make my final stand
My death awaits, I have no fear
To this end my fate is bound
Though I'm doomed,
I'll stand my ground!
This fight is mine, and mine alone,
and there's no help from anyone!
I go forth to meet my doom,
but I will die in vain
Perdition waits for everyone
The world will die in flames
With all my strength
I run the horn deep into his eye!
And as he swings his burning sword
I die with a tired smile!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I rise up from Muspelheim
My fury is sublime
The sword I bring burns violently
With wild and lethal flames

I march against the Asagods
To bring the end of time
I am pure and endless pain
And Surtur is my name

See me rise, the mighty Surt
Destroyer of the universe
Bringer of flames and endless hurt
Scorcher of men and earth

See me rise, the mighty Surt
Destroyer of the universe
Bringer of flames and endless hurt
Scorcher of men and earth

Swordless Frej with horn in hand
Rises to his final stand
He doesn't stand a single chance
I'll split his living corpse in half

And yet he stabbed me in the eye
He drove the horn in deep
The overwhelming, raging pain
Is driving me insane

The waves of flames that
I've unleashed will eat us all alive
The rage that burns within my heart
Is uncontrolled and wild
And now everything shall die!
Massive waves consume us all
The ocean is released
Our dying world quakes underneath
And sinks into the sea
And now nothing will survive!
Extinction waits for everyone
For gods and men alike
When all are gone of the old world
A new one will arise!

See me rise, the mighty Surt
Destroyer of the universe
Bringer of flames and endless hurt
Scorcher of men and earth

See me rise, the mighty Surt
Destroyer of the universe
Bringer of flames and endless hurt
Scorcher of men and earth

See me die, the mighty Surt
Destroyer of the universe
Drowning in waves that floods the earth
The beginning, of a new rebirth

See me die, the mighty Surt
Destroyer of the universe
Drowning in waves that floods the earth
The beginning, of a new rebirth

Surtur and Frej lie dead. So do Garm and Tyr, and Heimdall and Loki, and yet the battle rages on Vigrid. Though the Sun still shines, it will not for long.

Conceived was I
From chaos and hate
Of malice, deceit and blood
And how would they know
My fate is to rise
Against the Asagods
My being is full,
Full of a rage
An evil that can't be tamed
It darkens my soul
And blackens the blood
A fire that fills my veins

So how did I ever end up here?
Humiliated, broken and weak
I've waited for a thousand years
To break these chains apart and
To finally break myself free

I bit the hand
Off the mighty Tyr
When I couldn't tear my ties
Now banished I dwell,
A sword in my jaw,
Awaiting the end of time
In darkness I drown
Consumed by my hate
Longing for revenge
Allfather will pay
For his deceit
At the battle of Ragnarök

A beast am I
So vicious and grim
They fear my mean
Grinning teeth
I bide my time,
My sweet revenge,
Soon my ties will fall
And finally I will be free

So when you hear me howling
You'll know that I have come for you
When you hear me call your name
Your life will end in nameless pain

Conceived was I
From chaos and hate
Of malice, deceit and blood
And how would they know
My fate is to rise
Against the Asagods
My being is full,
Full of a rage
An evil that can't be tamed
It darkens my soul
And blackens the blood
A fire that fills my veins

A beast am I
So vicious and grim
They fear my mean
Grinning teeth
I bide my time,
My sweet revenge,
Soon my ties will fall
And finally I will be!
Finally break myself!
Finally I will be free!

The greatest wolf stalks the world, now, and has swallowed the Sun and Moon. To meet him rides the greatest god.

Down the slopes of death He rides
The eight hooves pound like drums
Darkness reigns the crumbling sky
Invasion has begun

Fields of flames greet His eyes
He smells the fear and pain
Of dying men in agony,
It can drive a man insane

All enemies flee his spear
No bow or axe do harm
The Allfather rides out on fields of fear
When Heimdal sounds the alarm

But on the field awaits His fate,
Foretold in ancient times
A beast with sharp yellow teeth
And hateful burning yes

Today He'll draw His final breath
The wisest god of all
His son will avenge His death
Iormundr's brother will fall

He knows now what is to come
No use to try and run
What is to be, let it be done!
What is to be, let it be done!

He knows now what is to come
No use to try and run
What is to be, let it be done!
What is to be, let it be done!

Today He'll draw His final breath
The wisest god of all
His son will avenge His death
Iormundr's brother will fall

Down the slopes of death He rides
The eight hooves pound like drums
Darkness reigns the crumbling sky
Invasion has begun

Down the slopes of death He rides
The eight hooves pound like drums
Darkness reigns the crumbling sky
No more is the sun

Odin dies facing Fenris, but his son Vidarr will manage to hold open the tired beast's jaws long enough to run a sword down its throat. As the stars falls from the skies and the land crumbles into the void, the world serpent emerges from the depths.

There comes Fenris' twin
His jaws are open wide
The serpent rises from the waves

Jormungandr twists and turns
Mighty in his wrath
The eyes are full of primal hate

Thor! Odin's son
Protector of mankind
Ride to meet your fate
Your destiny awaits
Thor! Hlödyn's son
Protector of mankind
Ride to meet your fate
Ragnarök awaits

Vingtor rises to face
The snake with hammer high
At the edge of the world

Bolts of lightning fill the air
As Mjölnir does it's work
The dreadfu l serpent roars in pain

Thor! Odin's son
Protector of mankind
Ride to meet your fate
Your destiny awaits
Thor! Hlödyn's son
Protector of mankind
Ride to meet your fate
Ragnarök awaits

Mighty Thor grips the snake
Firmly by its tongue
Lifts his hammer high to strike
Soon his work is done

Vingtor sends the giant snake
Bleeding to the depth
Twilight of the thundergod
Ragnarök awaits

Twilight of the thunder god
Twilight of the thunder god
Twilight of the thunder god
Twilight of the thunder god

Thor! Odin's son
Protector of mankind
Ride to meet your fate
Your destiny awaits
Thor! Hlödyn's son
Protector of mankind
Ride to meet your fate
Ragnarök awaits

Thor will take nine steps before Jormungandr's venom overcomes him and he falls. Soon, the world will cease to be.

The Northern wind brings snow and ice
Humans starve and freeze
The Fimbul winter has arrived
And soon the world will cease to be

Brother will be brother's bane
No one shall be spared
All will die, none remain
That is mankind's share

The southern sphere is set ablaze
Muspel's fire is set free
The sun is on its final chase
And soon the world will cease to be

Across the western sky he runs
A wolf so grim and mean
Devours the eternal sun
And soon the world will cease to be

The North Star falls from the sky
Into the deep cold sea
The first of all to fall and die
And soon the world will cease to be

Muspel's flames lick the sky
Hidhægg eats the dead
The Aesir meet in hall up high
And Oden questions Mimer's head

Land is swallowed by the waves
Rocks and mountains break
Dead men on the path to Hell
And Yggdrasil quakes

From the East comes a ship
Loke holds the oar
A demon army with swords that rip
Will join the final war

The army of the dead arrives
Heimdal blows his horn
Calling gods out to die
Before the world can be reborn

Song 354: "I am the Winter" - The Family Crest

Maybe there's a heart
Slowly beating for you in the dark
That casts a sturdy sound
Slowly lifting out above the ground

But it's not mine this time, this time
No it's not mine this time, this time

Maybe there's a man
That's holding out, love, with his undying hand
With a warmth, a loving spark
To pull you out, away love, from the dark

But oh, my love, I am the winter
And my arms are cold
And, dear, my gale breaks us to splinters
And my wake is bold

The things I gave to take
The hearts I loved to break
The words that slowly fade to nothing
To nothing
To nothing

So maybe there's a heart
Slowly beating for you in the dark

But it's not mine this time, this time
No it's not mine this time, this time

Song 353: "Strike the Bell"

Aft on the poopdeck
  Walking about
There is the second mate
  So sturdy and so stout
What he is thinking of
  He only knows himself
Oh, we wish that he would hurry up
  And strike, strike the bell

Strike the bell, second mate
Let us go below
Look away to windward
You can see it's going to blow
Look at the glass
You can tell that it is fell
We wish the you would hurry up
And strike, strike the bell

Down on the maindeck
  Working at the pumps
There is the larboard watch
  Ready for their bunks
Over to windward
  They see a great swell
They're wishing that the second mate
  Would strike, strike the bell

Aft at the wheel
  Poor Anderson stands
Grasping the spokes
  In his cold, mittened hands
Looking at the compass
  The course is clear as hell
He is wishing that the second mate
  Would strike, strike the bell

For'ad in the fo'c'sle head
  Keeping sharp lookout
There is Johnny standing
  Ready for to shout
"Lights' burning bright, sir
  And everything is well"
He's wishing that the second mate
  Would strike, strike the bell

Aft the quarterdeck
  The gallant captain stands
Looking to windward
  With his glasses in his hand
What he is thinking of
  We know very well
He's thinking more of shortening sail
  Than strike, strike the bell

Song 352: "Drunken Sailor"

Weigh heigh and up she rises
Weigh heigh and up she rises
Weigh heigh and up she rises
Early in the morning!

What shall we do with a drunken sailor,
What shall we do with a drunken sailor,
What shall we do with a drunken sailor,
Early in the morning?

Wake him, shake him, wet him all over.
Chuck him in the long boat till he's sober.
Keep him there and make 'im bail 'er.
Put him in the scuppers with a hose-pipe on him.
Heave him by the leg in a runnin' bowline.
Give 'im a dose of salt and water.
Soak him in oil till he sprouts a flipper.
Shave his chin with a rusty razor.
Put him in the bilge and make him drink it.

What'll we do with a Limejuice skipper?

Song 351: "Fehu" - Wardruna

Ei helufallen åker
Strid som frender råker

Ormen ligg i kveile
i løyndom vakar under
Ei helufallen åker
Strid som frender råker

Song 350: "Nada más" - Atahualpa Yupanqui

Teniendo rancho y caballo
Es más liviana la pena.
Teniendo rancho y caballo
Es más liviana la pena.
De todo aquello que tuve
Solo el recuerdo me queda.
De todo aquello que tuve
Solo el recuerdo me queda.
Nada más, nada más

No tengo cuentas con dios.
Mis cuentas son con los hombres.
No tengo cuentas con dios.
Mis cuentas son con los hombres.
Yo rezo en el llano abierto
Y me hago león en el monte.
Yo rezo en el llano abierto
Y me hago león en el monte.
Nada más, nada más

Me gusta mirarlo al hombre
Plantado sobre la tierra
Me gusta mirarlo al hombre
Plantado sobre la tierra
Como una piedra en la cumbre
Como un faro en la ribera
Como una piedra en la cumbre
Como un faro en la ribera
Nada más, nada más

Alguna gente se muere
Para volver a nacer.
Alguna gente se muere
Para volver a nacer.
Y el que tenga alguna duda
Que se lo pregunte al Ché
Y el que tenga alguna duda
Que se lo pregunte al Ché
Nada más, nada más

Song 349: "When the Lights Go Out" - The Family Crest

When the lights go out on the city
Lay your head upon my chest
And away we'll go
This silent road
We'll never know
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

When the lights go out on the city
Wrap your arms around me dear
And with a steady hold
We take the time
We'll never know

And who is to say why we're leaving dear?
Who is to say why we've gone?
Oh clearly this rock isn't going nowhere we know

When the lights go out on the city
Rest your hands inside mine dear
When the lights go out on the city
Know that I am with you here

When the lights go out
Oh you're gone, but you're never gone my love
Oh, the city lights
When the lights go out

Song 348: "Pertho" - Wardruna

Under dvergar i sal
breier larm i mot sval
Millom rekkjer av bord
Leikar eld I mot ljor
Opp I augene flakkar
dei ser stjålent mot stakkar
Der krigarar blide
i bjor-salar sit

Der krigarar blide
i bjor-salar sit

Drikk ein-kjels frå kjenger
Slær skalden på strenger
Kved terning i tagnad
Di lukke og lagnad

Der krigarar blide
i bjor-salar sit

Pertho er ei audig kjelde
Til løye og lott
Der krigarar blide
i bjor-salar sit

Der krigarar blide
i bjor-salar sit

[English translation:]

Beneath dwarfs of the hall
Swells sound to its sides
Between table rows
Dance of fire passing for the vent
Flickers in eyes,
They steal glances at skirts
Where warriors sit
cheerful in the beer-hall

Where warriors sit
cheerful in the beer-hall

Drinking toasts from the ale-bowls
the bard strikes his strings
The dice its silent chant
Your fortune and fate

Where warriors sit
cheerful in the beer-hall

Pertho is a bottomless source
of fun and games
Where warriors sit
cheerful in the beer-hall

Where warriors sit
cheerful in the beer-hall

Song 347: "Time" - AlicebanD

I wonder how…
I wonder how you let me go
Did I make it easy on you?
Did I make it easier to
Hold it together?
To hold it together
Give me time!

I hope this…
I hope this never comes between us
I hope he never lets me fall back
Into a rhythm
If I fall back into this hole…
You give me time!

I hope you
Break this wall down
Break it down!
And let it crumble over
And I hope he (it) goes away
I hope she knows I tried not to use him

He's like an animal
A little small (strong)
A little simple
He makes me little bruises
He makes me feel as if I'm new to this

Are you agreeing with me?
And are you breathing
Let me touch you 'til you are nothing!
Let me hold your heart in my hand!
Give me time!

And I am
I am a little girl
A stupid girl
With little problems
And I believe the world is caving in and will take me with it
And I believe I'll never grow, I'll never age, and never bruise

Will you remember me, in years to come?
Or am just I a seed and please be gone?
'Cause I hate this lying all the time

And I would kill myself if I thought I'd go somewhere better
But this is it
We are in hell we are in pain
And I will suffer with you

I hope this never comes between us
I hope he never lets me fall back
Into a rhythm
If I fall back into this hole…
You give me time!

You give me time
As time will fill the biggest void
And it will stop the bleeding
And time will lick your wounds
And hold you down and stop your breathing
And time will let you see that
I am not the one you want to spend
Your happy years with

Song 346: "The Bonnie Ship the Diamond"

The Diamond is a ship, my lads
For the Davis Strait we’re bound
The quay it is all garnished
With bonnie lasses 'round
Captain Thompson gives the order
To sail the ocean wide
Where the sun it never sets, my lads
Nor darkness dims the sky

And it’s cheer up my lads
Let your hearts never fail
For the bonnie ship the Diamond
Goes a-fishing for the whale

Along the quay at Peterhead
The lasses stand around
Wi' their shawls all pulled around them
And the salt tears runnin' down
Don’t you weep, my bonnie wee lass
Though you be left behind
For the rose will grow on Greenland’s ice
Before we change our mind

Here’s a health to the Resolution
Likewise the Eliza Swan
Three cheers for the Battler of Montrose
And the Diamond, ship of fame
We wear the trousers o' the white
The jackets o' the blue
When we get back to Peterhead
We’ll have sweethearts enou'

It will be bright both day and night
When the Greenland lads come hame
Our ship full up with oil, my lads
And money to our name
We’ll make the cradles for to rock
And the blankets for to tear
And every lass in Peterhead sing
"Hushabye, my dear"
